R P Singh believes Hardik Pandya needs more competition to showcase his all-rounder ability. Following Pandya’s outstanding performance in a recent T20I against Bangladesh, in which he scored 39 runs off 16 balls and bowled well, Singh warned against overestimating his form merely on one game. He pointed out that Bangladesh is not currently performing well, which minimizes the relevance of Pandya’s achievements in that context.
R P Singh highlighted that a player’s form should be accurately evaluated against stronger opponents. He stated, “Using a performance against Bangladesh to judge a player’s form is not right,” implying that Pandya’s abilities can only be completely assessed when confronted with higher challenges. He appreciated Pandya’s progress, notably in his bowling and fitness, but emphasized the importance of tougher tests ahead to measure his readiness for more stressful scenarios.
R P Singh says that, while Hardik Pandya has shown promise, consistent success against higher-calibre teams is required to establish himself as a premier international cricketer.
