India has announced a 15-person Test team for the forthcoming three-match series against New Zealand, which is scheduled to begin on October 16, 2024. The team’s goal is to maintain India’s lead in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings by assembling a mix of seasoned veterans and bright young talent.

Important Details about the Squad: Captain and Vice-skipper: Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain, while Rohit Sharma will skipper the team. Bumrah may be prepared to take over as captain during the upcoming series, especially the difficult tour of Australia later this year, therefore, this appointment is viewed as a calculated strategic move.

Squad Composition: The team is essentially the same as in the 2-0 victory over Bangladesh, with the exception of Mohammed Shami, who is still recovering from an ankle injury. Yash Dayal, a left-arm pacer, has also been dropped.

Young Talent: Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy, two young fast bowlers who are viewed as future stars, were named in the travelling reserves by the selectors. Their addition indicates that the team is concentrating on nurturing fresh potential.
