Hardik Pandya will not play in the forthcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka due to personal issues.
According to sources, Pandya has already informed regular India captain Rohit Sharma about his plan to skip the ODI series. An official BCCI source acknowledged that “the break from ODIs is for very personal reasons” and that “Hardik doesn’t have any fitness issue as is being floated in the media.”
With Pandya missing for the ODIs, KL Rahul or Shubman Gill, both of whom have recently led India in ODI series, might take over as captain.
The selectors and BCCI might ask Hardik Pandya to play Vijay Hazare Trophy this season to get some 50-over practice.
