The following are the main causes of the US T20 Cricket League’s lack of success:
1. The historical battle of cricket to become a popular sport in the United States, where baseball, football, and basketball have long had a dominant position.
2. Efforts to create domestic T20 cricket leagues in the United States have been unsuccessful in the past, as seen by Pro Cricket in 2004 and the American Premier League that is being proposed.
3 Development of a sustainable domestic league was hampered by governance problems in the USACA, the former cricket governing body in the US that resulted in its expulsion from the ICC in 2017.
4 The current T20 league, Major League Cricket (MLC), was supposed to begin play in 2021, however the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for more time to build facilities caused the league to postpone its debut until 2023.

5 Issues and postponements regarding the MLC’s official ICC sanctioning by the USA Cricket regulatory body, which were eventually cleared up in April 2023.
On the other hand, the league appears ready to take advantage of the growing interest in cricket in the US and possibly change the sports landscape, given the recent successful launch of the inaugural MLC season in 2023, which included significant investment, high-profile backers, and participation from international cricket stars.
